I stopped in the King of Prussia Apple store and got a brand new spiffy battery. That means full charges and starting off with no cycles. My battery is so fresh and so clean. I must have changed my reservation time about 4 times before settling on the 4.15 time slot. I actually got there a little before 4, signed in and got to a Genius before 4.15. The service today was great and everybody welcomed me with a smile on their face. The store was jumping as expected but there was not too many AppleCare appointments. Big ups to Joshua on helping me. Unbeknownst to him he helped a few months back when my iPhone was acting funny. He explained to me what happened to my battery where there are two liquids inside the battery that keep it charged and when those two liquids come in contact with each other, expansion occurs. I should have taken a picture of my battery. Basically it started as a small bulge and then it got worse with the battery trying to come out of its casing. I couldn't hold a charge anymore because of this. As Josh got my new battery he said that the old battery was still usable. Right after he said that he took the old battery and used it to cut the plastic from the box which held my new battery. It was a funny joke as I was expecting some scientific example of how he could use this damaged battery. Josh did explain to me that Apple recycles all of its returned batteries.

As always I am impressed when I deal with Apple. When you venture of to the dark side and purchase your first Apple computer make sure to get Apple Care. Yes you have up to a year from the date of purchase to buy it. So if you don't buy it on the spot make a note to remind you to do so.

I am an Apple fanboy. I love Apple products. I have a Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, 23” Cinema Display, iPhone 3G, AirPort Express and iPod Shuffle. When a person asks me what kind of computer should I buy (this happens all the time), meaning if they should get a Apple or PC I tell them the same thing. Apple will cost you more initially hands down. If they are looking to spend less than $1000 I tell them to go to Best Buy or hit up Dell.com. If they are looking for value and price is not the #1 option that’s where I work my magic. So hear me out, initially Apple will cost more money. If you are looking to spend less than $1000, stop reading this post. Apple has clearly shown that you are not their target market. Enjoy thisYouTube video.

Initially Apple will cost more but over time a PC will cost you more when you factor in the additional time and money you will put into the system (remember we are talking about machines that cost more than $1000). I have heard over and over that you pretty much have to employ a full time IT guy for your windows system. Ok, its a little exaggeration but you will spend much more time and energy with a Windows based system than an Apple. I have seen this story repeat itself over and over. Family, friends and my place of employment all fall victim of this. Person gets a spiffy Windows machine and between six months to a year problems start to arise. Windows system starts acting funny and feels like a 5 year old machine running Windows ME. This is not to say Apple machines don’t have their problems but that’s what Genius Bars are for!

Apple has no need to lower their prices just because. Everybody wants them to do that just because its a recession and that’s what every other company is doing. Yes its a recession but it won’t last forever and Apple, as history as shown us, takes their time on everything they do. For crying out loud cut/copy/paste will be coming to the iPhone for the first time this summer. Remember Apple doesn’t target people looking to spend under “a stack” (haha, that’s was the first word that came to me when trying to say $1000, a stack = $1K). Apple is saying to Microsoft those people are for you we don’t want them. Prices to get cut on Apple systems but people tend to forget that because those systems cost more than $1000. Let me say this again, Apple lowers prices on their systems from time to time. To understand how Apple works you have to take a step back and just look at how things are. Apple has about $30B in cash and no long term debt (that’s more than Microsoft). They don’t need to lower their standards just to sell more machines at a lower profit margin. That’s not in the Apple playbook for making huge amounts of money.

I used to be all fanatical in getting people to love Apple but I stop that a long time ago. I am more laidback in letting people know the enormous benefits of owning an Apple. I tell them the pros and cons and let them make their choice. I believe an Apple system is the best out there but if you don’t its all right with me.
